I will never forget once Joe moved to California.. how much we enjoyed playing video games together. We would come home from work. Change into comfy clothes and boot up our computers. We would play World of Warcraft together daily and do a little thing called Raiding. Where a party of us would get together and try to take down the biggest boss in the game at the time, which was the Lich King at the time. Before you can even get to him there are bosses upon bosses you have to defeat. Your group's gear, leadership, timing and skill have to be on point or everything crumbles and people quit halfway there.Â
We were decently geared but never quite got lucky enough to end up in a party geared well enough to defeat the Lich King. IÂ think it was pride really. We were in a guild that we tried with weekly. And we failed over and over again. As a matter of fact the whole realm seemed to for lack of a better word... suck. We researched other realms that were doing well and had the highest Lich King defeats and discovered the realm Deathwing. We paid to switch from Onyxia to Deathwing and sought out a guild that would have us. We joined a guild that seemed promising but the guild leader was a touch crazy. We commited to raiding with this guild and it got us no where. Night after night getting so close and for nothing. Then something happened that was kinda iffy. The guild leader convinced a guild that had already defeated the Lich King to let us tag along/fill spots. Their condition was that we could not roll on items they are hoping to pick up. At the end of each boss fight, the boss will drop items or gear to equip your character with. If a sword would drop each character that can wield a sword has the option to type in /roll and a number would appear 1-100. The highest number wins the item. So we passed on rolling for items.Â
So we got all the way to the Lich King. Defeated him. Won our titles of King Slayers annnndddd... a new expansion released within a few months so we had a new boss to take down. But we were wore our King Slayer titles happily.
