IÂ asked my husband to tell me one of his favorite memories of us. He said, "Well, let me think about it." It didn't take him long. He said he really enjoyed our trip to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. So that's what I will write a little about!
So I know this is going to sound a little bougie, but this is really how it starts out. We were flying into Idaho from California in a private jet. Every time we get to ride in the private jet and I have the opportunity to sit in the 'second' pilots seat, I take it. It's incredible and I got my own private flying lessons. But for the most part when sitting there you need to just stay buckled up, grab the pilot coffee or snacks and dont touch anything. Have I manually flown a private jet before, yes. Have I manually landed a private jet before, yes but with assistance! I enjoyed learning every thing I could. For example, you dont fly in miles, you fly in knots. Like a sky ship! And there are different zones in the sky. Each zone you move into, you need to contact that tower and let them know your plane number and altitude. From there they will let you know if you will need to change your altitude in that zone. On this day we were flying high above the clouds and when we came in for landing I was in awe of just how beautiful this place was. It was like the city was surrounded with gorgeous small and medium size lakes.Â
We landed in a small airport and rode together with his grandparents to the Coeur d'Alene Golf and Spa Resort. Joe's grandfather had business meetings to attend. He was dressed in a nice suit. We felt out of place in our ripped jeans and band shirts while sophisticated men and women looked they were dressed for an episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Our room was northwest inspired with a little bit of a woodsy feeling and an affluent Homegoods vibe. The first evening we went down to the hotel's restaurant and ate with Joe's grandmother. They had a shrimp salad that was to die for! We went for a walk along the pier. It was drizzling and overcast but still beautiful. Then back up to the hotel room to relax a bit. I loved that the view from our room was so amazing. There was the lake and land with the most beautiful tall trees. We could see the floating hole on the golf course that golfers would tee off from. (In the pictures below)
Much later Joe and I went down to the lobby bar. There were not a whole lot of people there but the atmosphere was cozy. This was back when I liked ordering fruity little drinks because I couldn't shoot whiskey. I ordered a bay breeze and Joe ordered a beer. There was a man singing and covering songs. I loved his spin on the song Billionaire by Bruno Mars. After he sang it, I downloaded the actual song to my phone. He sang the song Somewhere Over the Rainbow similar to Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwo'ole. Joe really enjoyed that version. We drank and swayed in our seats together. Joe had an arm around me and I remember looking at his face during this song. The ambient glow from the fireplace was orange and yellow on Joe's face as well as the walls. He looked at me and gave me a wink before he held me closer. We finished our drinks and went back upstairs.Â
It was raining pretty hard now. I was so relaxed from the drinks and warmth of the fireplace I fell asleep quickly. It was the the best sleep of my life. But when I woke up I was completely offended that Joe didn't wake me up. He asked if I heard the lightening last night because he was sure it was so loud it woke me. But, nope. I slept right through it while he got to watch the most spectacular lightening show over the water. I would have absolutely loved to see it. So I had him explain to me what he saw again. Once we were ready to leave, I browsed the gift shop with Joe's grandmother and I ended up buying a small magnet representing the state of Idaho. Fun fact: When Joe and I travel to a different place or state. One of the keepsakes we always get when we visit places is a magnet. I used to put them all on our refrigerator but let me tell you. I have been with this man 10 years and we like to travel! So I have removed all the magnets from the fridge and I will be creating a magnetic board in a picture frame to hang somewhere in our new home. So we will have a place for all those magnetic memories!
Images credit to the CDARESORT Gallery.. mainly because any picture I took back in those days had a filter and vignette so dark I dont know what IÂ was thinking! I think I have the heart of a moody image girl. But IÂ came to learn, those they look edgy or artsy. They don't portray the true atmosphere of what IÂ was looking at.
