I had such a fun time with the Olgine family. From the moment I arrived, they were all smiles and ready to have their pictures taken. Their sweet little babe is the most photogenic baby that I have ever met! Even the Gerber baby doesnât have anything on this sweet girl. She was so smiley I was in awe of just how happy she is! I want to be that happy!Â
This was one of the very last weekends that you got to see beautiful fall colors. I remember it vividly as the day before. I traveled down to Tennessee to shoot a wedding. Then, I traveled north to Lake Patoka the next day for a newborn session. That same day, I traveled straight from there to Louisville for this beautiful family session. The sun was supposed to be setting and dreamy. Flooding warm light through the park. But instead we got dark clouds and a gray sky. Not every session I book can have the perfect weather. But I live for a challenge as long as it's not pouring rain!
As a photographer, we strive to shoot in that beautiful golden light. In this case, I contemplated using an external flash. But if I were to do that, any background would end up a lot darker than the figure in front of me. I did not have my second shooter with me so carrying around light equipment was a no-go. I made the decision to change around the settings in my camera manually to accommodate for the darkness outside. Then once I culled the images into my computer, I used todayâs top editing software to help me tweak the rest. Ideally this wasnât as smooth for me as other photo sessions are, with the beautiful sunset light coming through. But with my technique. I still was able to get my sweet clients my same consistent style unique to Elisa Lucas Photography. This felt like such a win for me and a lesson learned. Perhaps all sessions don't need to be booked right at sunset but the closer the better! We about kept going until it was just too dark. As a bonus to the Olgine family, instead of giving them the agreed upon amount of images. I threw in all the best because they were so amazing to worth with!
