So not often do I get a message from a guy looking to book a wedding photographer and not long after I met these two I found out why. They are both incredibly smart and trying to balance school, life and planning their dream wedding! I asked about how Zach decided to propose to Alex and it was this elaborate plan of getting her down to the Bridge at Hayswood park. That’s walking half a mile! Positioning the camera in the perfect spot and proposing with hopefully no interruptions and kneeling at the right angle! Can you image how nervous he must have been? So they are telling me this story together and I am realizing that Zach has such a photographers perspective of getting this moment perfect. And it was, it truly was! Aside from the random jogger in the background. And they both kinda slump and sigh in unison. Yes the jogger will forever be in the background of their engagement portrait. But here is something they don’t know as they have booked me, befriended me and let me into their love story.Â
I am ridiculously good with photoshop. And I will zap that trail jogger out of the background in the name of MEMORIES! The trust they had for me at their engagement session set the pace for these photos. I mention a crazy idea and they just went with it! So laying down on a bridge in their beautiful outfits giggling as I am decorating the scene with the fresh flowers they brought and waving trail joggers on by in the 90 degree humidity?!… really though.. who runs in 90 degree weather? What are you running from?! Anyway, I image laying and posing on a busy bridge could feel so awkward. But they weren’t there to fixate on that. They were there to show me and the world their love story. And BOY does it show. The way they look at each other just says it all.Â
I was their age when I married my husband Joseph. I remember people telling us we were so young. But I also had to remind everyone I’ve been far beyond my years since I was a child. And I am going to get married because I am madly in love. Now we are approaching our 10 year anniversary in just a few months and I get to say that! I get to say I have been with my husband 10 years. When we get to join the generation dance at weddings we don’t exit the dance floor until it’s known we have been together a whole decade. I feel like that is one of the most generous things that time has given us. A decade of love. I love and pray these two have MANY decades to come!
