âI remember the first day I met Joe, I hadnât talked to Elisa in about a week. So I marched down to her house to make sure she was okay. Upon my arrival. I see this mystery man watching TV with my friend. And then they come outside and tell me that they met on World of Warcraft. All I could think, as I was looking at Joeâs tattoos was... I hope this guy with all these tattoos isnât a weirdo. But of course, after I got to know and love Joe and see how good they were for each other. I was definitely sure he wasnât a weirdoâ¦â -AGM
That simple act of kindness made me wonder what kind of person was behind that bear. I defended my reasoning to him for not having gear. He was on the same quests and offered to come along with me to help. When you talk to someone on the internet they could be anybody. Wary that I could possibly be a man, he wasnât flirty with me. Just kind. Rag asked me if I wanted to join a short raid group with him and I did. When you join these groups, most of them would request you log into a program called Ventrilo so you communicate by talking to each other instead of typing. I joked with Rag telling him to listen for the girl that sounds like a dying frog. They did a roll call and I spoke. Within seconds I got a message, âIs that you?â from Rag. I confirmed. This guy turned from cool to flirty! He told me I have a pleasant voice and not even close to a frog. I was flattered and I told him that his voice wasnât too bad either. What I didnât tell him? That country twang he has going on made my heart beat just a little faster. Now I know the twang only comes out after a few beers. Drink up honey.
We refrained from sharing personal information but not for long. Eventually, curiosity got the best of us. I loved getting to know him. He was very easy to talk to and I opened up the story of my life to him. He would give me advice. To sum it up at that point I was going through a rough divorce. I had a long distance boyfriend that hadnât bothered to call me in weeks. I hated relationships and love and was content with being alone. Just me and my cat. Rag appreciated my honesty. Not being able to get ahold of my âboyfriendâ I broke up with him through a private message on social media. Later I found out that he was in jail the entire time, I dont even know what for. Nobody cared to tell me or let me know.
What I knew about Rag was he lived with his twin brother in Indiana. He had been to California before because his grandfather used to live out there. He drank beer. Played video games and he was just as depressed as I was. Maybe even more.
I was emotionally falling for this stranger that was telling me he loves me. To which I replied, âThere is no such thingâ and âYou donât even know what I look like crazy!â Curiosity got the best of me and I wanted to know what he looked like. I gave him my Facebook information and we became friends on social media. Within seconds he told me I was downright beautiful and made it a point that I was going to be his one day. I couldnât really see him on his pictures. They were tiny and out of focus. So I suggested we skype. Within minutes we were looking at each other's faces on our screens. My first words to him on skype was, âYou look like Jesus!â With his long hair and a long beard. I admitted if I ever saw him in person I would probably be too intimidated to approach him. But there I was. Such a sucker for a sweet talker. Falling for this guy that told me if he ever had the chance to be my man, he would never make a promise he canât keep. He would love me like no other and he would never intentionally mess that up. He would never cheat on me or make me feel disrespected. And he would always call me when he said he would. My heart ached at his words. All I wanted in life was just to be happy and this bear made happiness sound like it was a possibility. Jerk.
One night I did something a little more daring. I logged into WoW and told Rag I was going to the hospital because my sister is having a baby. I told him if he gets bored here's my number and typed it in. I figured if he was really a crazy person, no big deal. My phone number was still a Las Vegas area code. I needed to change that anyways. I was worried that he wasnât going to call or message me. Then my phone rang and it was a number I didnât recognize. I timidly answered and heard a twangy that hello. He apologized for taking so long. Turns out he had to go put minutes on his phone. Later he would tell me that his second phone which I deemed âThe Pimp Phone.â By this time we would talk to each other till the sun came up. He would always ask me to tell him a story to keep me on the phone.
âOnce upon a time there was a bear named Rag. He was walking through a forest just minding his own bear business when he stumbled on this rock. It was no ordinary looking rock. So Rag began to dig. After some digging, he found that he was digging up brick by brick a castle once known to be the biggest castle in all the world. Legend had it. A princess name Sugar was so sad she demanded to be buried until someone worthy of her love comes to save her. When he finally found a door he realized the trinket he had been carrying for years fit perfectly. Rag had the keys to the castleâ¦.â
