I walked back into the church escaping the hot and humid Indiana sun. The Groomsmen were thrilled to be back inside cooling off from their short time behind the camera. Any longer and surely their jackets would be soaked with sweat. Rain on wedding days almost seem normal for Indiana. But I still don't know that I will ever be used to the humidity. I did a quick glance around me, and like a ninja slipped into the Bridal Suite without letting others see what's on the other side of the door. My eye's immediately found a little blonde in a fitted lace dress beaming happily at her bridesmaids. Lacey, the bride, was radiating happiness. I tilted my head towards the sky to try and suck back the happy tears. I'm not sure what the protocol is for photographers getting emotional at weddings. So I tried to hide it, but I wasn't doing a very good job!
I have watched these two grow together for half a year now. I had the pleasure of photographing their portrait photos in the fall, their engagement session in the spring and now the biggest milestone of their life. I had taken wedding photos in the past as the "friend with the camera" and they were excited to be apart of my milestone as well. Ushering me into 2018 as "The Photographer with her Business."Â And I can't even tell you want an honor it was for these two to trust me with the most important day of their life. On May 12th 2018, all of their plans were coming into fruition. Me and my second photographer got to freeze moments they will view through our perspective and relive those timeless moments that felt like a blur by the end of the night.
Wedding timelines flyby so fast. Before you know it you've celebrated an entire day with your family and closest friends. All of the hard work and investments that went into planning, decorating, picking out flowers, the perfect dress and tuxes has paid off. When all is said and done Lacey will probably preserve her dress and store it some where safe. Her faux flowers may discolor over time. Her awesome makeup job will be washed off. But what they will have for the rest of their life is images of one of the best days of their lives. I love that they made the decision to plan carefully and hire me. They entrusted their day with me. And are currently and patiently waiting on their images to relive those moments again.Â
Favorite Moment: When the Bride and Bridesmaids turned into little bad@$$es with their Candy Smokes and RootBEER outside the reception.
