I started a project March 3rd that I have been meaning to do for a while! It's called our, 'Golden Day Files' blog with memories of me and my husband I am adding to a jar on little gold slips of paper. Starting with the sentence, "I will never forget..."
First, IÂ want you to know this is not my brilliant idea. My photography mentors have this thing called, The Pink Slip Files. They write out their fondest and not so fondest memories on a little slip of pink paper. One day they plan to swim in a pool of their own memories. Inspired by the scene in the movie Patch Adams. Where an elderly woman gets to swim in a pool of noodles. They felt, what could be better in their elderly age than swimming in a pool of their own memories!
Often we are held back from doing the things we want because 'someone else' has already done it. I will admit the fear of feeling like a copy cat has been on my mind since I wanted to do this myself! But, I have adopted the fact that my marriage and my mentor's marriage does not come with the same stories! And you are fully within your rights to take something and make it your own without being a copy cat. I was driving home on a Friday afternoon with my Venti Americano, contemplating what I can call my own memories to share. A song ended through my Apple Music Shuffle, the song Golden Days by Panic! at the Disco started playing, and divine intervention gave me the answer I was searching for.Â
The Golden Day files. I absolutely love this idea so much!!! I plan to start adding our memories to the blog every couple of weeks for a fun read. Also, I think it would be fun for people to get to know me a little bit through my loving relationship with my husband. Some weeks you may get a novel, some weeks you may get a paragraph. Some may make you laugh, some might make you hold onto your pearls, and some might make you cry. I love the intention of doing this to not only connect on a deeper level with my clients but to inspire my clients to connect on a deeper level with their own families and create their own way of remembering those times where photographs fall short. I would love to share these stories with you and I can't wait to start!
