It was the afternoon of August 1st, 2020. The hustle and bustle of the bridal suite was full of excitement and giggles. The sky turned a shade darker and a heavy rain storm rolled in. The bride, Lexi, had her eyes closed as her makeup artist Laura Price busily added more eyeshadow. The rain fell hard against the window pane. Lexi looked up at the sky and sighed hoping it wouldn't rain like this all day. But they say it's good luck if it rains on your wedding day! Luckily we only had rolling rain storms. The covered areas of Cedar Bluff Weddings and Retreats provided adequate shelter. But you aren't here to read about the weather. So let's jump to some memorable moments.Â
The Groom, Nick, stood at the alter. As the bridal party came down the aisle he did his best not to let his eyes wonder around looking for his bride. It was as if he didn't want to spoil this moment for himself. Everyone stood up and Lexi was ushered down the aisle by her father. For a moment it seemed as if Nick stopped breathing, then he smiled at his bride. Lexi struggled between smiling and trying not to cry. He smiled as he took her hands into his then they bowed their heads to pray. Nick peaked at Lexi from underneath his lashes and tilted cowboy hat. They read their own vows aloud. Lexi had their guests laughing with them. Instead of lighting a unity candle or pouring sand together, they branded wood with their initials inside of a heart. Holding the branding iron, four hands became one as they stamped the iron down and moved in circular motions as white smoke escaped. And when they kissed, the guests happily roared with excitement.
Later the Bride and Groom confidently cut into their wedding cake. I always wonder how far couples will go. I have witnessed full on cake food-fights and I have witnessed a bypass of any cake smashing at all. I would call what Lexi and Nick did the perfect medium! They smashed cake in each others faces-- mostly around the mouth and stopped for a few endearing frosted kisses. Among 1000 special moments this one made me and my photography team tear up looking back through the images and footage!Â
